Thursday 26 July 2018: Android users can now earn rewards points with a quick tap of their smartphone at Woolworths and BWS stores following the launch of Woolworths Rewards on Google Pay.

The move, which is a first in Australian supermarkets, gives more of Woolworths’ 11 million Rewards members a simple and secure way to earn and redeem loyalty points in-store.

Woolworths Loyalty Director Ingrid Maes said: “We’re seeing digital wallets grow in popularity because they offer quick, seamless and hassle-free payments for customers.

“As more and more Australians embrace digital wallets, we want to make it easier to earn points and redeem Woolworths Rewards dollars in our stores no matter what device they're on.

“With the launch of Woolworths Rewards on Google Pay, we’re pleased to be extending choice and convenience to even more of our 11 million members.”

Google Pay is currently available for Android™ devices running 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher. Customers can download Google Pay on the Play Store.

Rewards members can load their card on to Google Pay by following these simple steps:

1. Login to your Woolworths Rewards Account on your phone

2. Click the ‘Add Card’ banner

3. Click the ‘Google Pay: Save to Phone’ button

4. Follow the prompts

Once successfully loaded, customers can use their smartphone at store pinpads to earn Rewards points. Balances are refreshed periodically in the Google Pay app, so customers can check when they’re eligible to redeem Woolworths Rewards.
