14 April 2026 - Wodonga RSL President Jamie Wolf is calling on regional Australians to visit their local Woolworths store ahead of ANZAC Day to buy a badge and show their support for local veterans and families.

The regional launch of the 2026 ANZAC Appeal was held today at Woolworths Wodonga where Mr Wolf talked about the importance of the Appeal to regional centres.

“Albury-Wodonga, like many major regional centres across Australia, has become a place where a large proportion of service veterans have settled,” Mr Wolf said.

“We know that there are major adjustments, and sometimes significant challenges, for veterans who transition from service to civilian life. This means the ANZAC Appeal is vital to places like Albury-Wodonga in regional Australia.”

More than 1000 Woolworths stores across Australia are supporting the Appeal by selling ANZAC Appeal Badges and wristbands in-store.

Customers can also purchase Bakers Finest ANZAC Biscuits in selected stores, with proceeds supporting veterans and their families.

Additionally, 20 cents from every 24-packet of in-store baked Woolworths ANZAC Biscuits sold between April 22 to April 25 will be donated to RSL Australia.

The ANZAC Appeal funds vital support services to assist veterans and families deal with the psychological and physical issues that can follow the sacrifices of service.

Over the past 11 years Woolworths’ support of the ANZAC and Poppy Appeals has resulted in more than $14 million being raised directly for veteran and family support.

The Appeal helps fund many of the program and support services in place in the region that operate through the Wodonga RSL and the Wodonga Veterans Hub.

Mr Wolf said that last year many local veterans and their families were assisted by programs at the Sub-Branch and the Hub.

“We know that veterans have a wonderful skillset that can make a major contribution to our community, but transition can be very tough for some.

“Mental health challenges, unemployment and homelessness are issues that we see from veterans too regularly.

“Funds from the Appeal help deal with those issues and unlock the real potential of vulnerable veterans.

“When you’re in Woolworths over the next few weeks buy a badge; you are not only giving a tangible thanks for service, but you are also investing in a big segment of our population who can do so much for the region.”

Skye Weston, Store Manager of Woolworths Wodonga: "We’re incredibly proud to host the regional launch of the 2026 ANZAC Appeal to support veterans who have given so much.

“Each year, we see the generosity of the Albury-Wodonga community who buy badges and wristbands in support of the Appeal.

“Every contribution helps fund critical services right here in our region, ensuring our local veterans have the support they need.”

Michelle Monaghan, RSL Victoria – Head of Fundraising said: “Woolworths are the biggest single annual supporter of the ANZAC and Poppy Appeals, having contributed more than $14 million over the past 11 years.

“Woolworths efforts are helping change veterans’ lives.

“Buying an ANZAC Appeal badge at your local Woolworths helps fund critical services and ensure veterans and their families in regions like Albury-Wodonga can access the vital support they need.

“RSL Victoria thanks Woolworths for its continued commitment to supporting Australia’s veteran community.”
