• Woolworths is rolling out Scan&Go trolleys to select stores in South Australia

  • The trolleys allow customers to track their spend in real time and alerts them to specials to help manage their weekly budget

  • Customers can unlock a tablet with their Everyday Rewards card, attach it to their trolley, and scan & bag items as they go - saving time at the checkout.

21 August 2026: The weekly grocery shop will soon be even easier for families in South Australia, with Woolworths rolling out new trolleys which allow shoppers to scan and bag their shopping as they browse the aisles.

The new Scan&Go trolleys have been wheeled out to the first stores across Adelaide this week.

The smart trolleys help shoppers track their spending in real-time, and can even surface specials to help them stick to their budget.

Using their Everyday Rewards card, customers can unlock a tablet from the charging wall at the front of the store and attach it to their trolley to start shopping. The tablet has an in-built scanner and allows customers to scan and bag their shopping.

Woolworths Director of Smart Enablement, Matthew Baveas, said the smart trolleys deliver a more convenient shopping experience.

"We're focused on giving time back to our customers, and these trolleys are designed to make the grocery shop faster from start to finish," Mr Baveas said.

"By scanning and packing groceries as they shop, customers can enjoy a much more seamless checkout experience.

“One of the really great things about these smart trolleys is that they allow customers to track their spend as they browse the aisles, helping them save on the weekly grocery shop.”

The Scan&Go trolleys are currently available at Woolworths Aberfoyle Park and Woolworths Golden Grove, and will be rolled out to more stores across South Australia over the coming months. This follows a successful pilot of the trolleys in NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

More information on the Scan&Go trolleys, including a full list of participating stores, is available on the Woolworths website here.
