Our ambition is to inspire and empower the next generation to make healthier choices and be physically active.
Our ambition is to inspire and empower the next generation to make healthier choices and be physically active.
In Australia, through our Fresh Food Kids program, we make healthy eating fun and accessible by empowering children with educational, hands-on initiatives to encourage them to eat more fruit and vegetables.
Children can enjoy a free piece of fresh fruit at any Woolworths Supermarket or Metro store across Australian and New Zealand. This aims to establish healthy eating habits early by increasing fruit consumption in children’s diets and making fresh fruit a familiar snack choice.
The program continues to grow, giving away more than 32 million pieces of free fruit across Australia and New Zealand in F25.
Across Australia, our supermarkets provide local primary and high schools, and Foodbank, with food to support school breakfast clubs. The clubs provide students with a nutritious breakfast, support improved attendance and learning outcomes, and create the opportunity to socialise with peers and gain life skills such as eating together and cleaning up after meals. In F25, 348 stores contributed over $400,000 worth of food to support school breakfast programs
Australia: Life Ed (Healthy Harold)
Woolworths Supermarkets has partnered with Life Education since 2018. Our support has extended to the primary school nutrition modules delivered by Life Education to approximately 75,000 kids each year, and their Thrive Children’s Fund, providing access to Healthy Harold’s preventative health education for schools in regional and remote areas. Collectively, our partnership has given more than 400,000 school children access to valuable health education programs.
New Zealand: MyMahi
Woolworths New Zealand collaborated with MyMahi to develop the Hauora Kai/ Healthy Eating lesson series for rangatahi (young people). This resource is tailored for secondary school learners, supporting teachers and mentors in covering nutrition fundamentals in the classroom and helping students apply healthy eating principles in their own lives.
The program demonstrated strong engagement in F25, reaching 1,200 teachers and 13,000 young learners. The lessons also attracted 6,000 online views, marking a 36% increase from F24.
Woolworths Supermarkets proudly partners with key sporting organisations to inspire and support the health of children across Australia and New Zealand.
Australia: Supporting grassroots sports
We are one of Australia’s largest supporters of grassroots sports. Australian Supermarkets partners with Woolworths Cricket Blast and Woolworths NetSetGo, providing support to local clubs. This includes contributing to facility improvements, equipment upgrades, subsidised registration fees and healthier canteen offerings.
For online, we utilise interactive digital initiatives linked to these partnerships to create fun and engaging content for the sporting audience. This content educates families on the benefits of healthy eating, fostering positive behavioural shifts alongside physical activity.
New Zealand: futureFERNS
Woolworths New Zealand is proud to sponsor futureFERNS, Netball New Zealand’s official junior programme for kids aged 5 to 12.
Across four different year groups, the programme progresses players through modified formats that specifically recognise their stage of physical and mental development. This approach aims to grow not only netball abilities but also overall physical literacy - building the confidence, motivation, and competence to establish a lifelong love of the game.
We are glad to be one the sidelines cheering for this next generation, which now includes 69,186 participants across 1,532 schools and 78 centres as of December 2025.
