Gary Chen, Senior Homewares Designer at BIG W said: “Our new home collection has been designed with quality and affordability in mind, enabling Aussie families to refresh their home space with new-season styles for less.”
“From crafty storage solutions and tablescaping to household hacks and kid-inspired decor, we know that Aussies are turning to social media for inspiration on how to style their homes. We wanted to take the trends we see on social media and bring them to life through the products in this collection.”
To celebrate the launch of the new AW24 Home Collection, BIG W joined forces with a team of leading home content creators to identify four viral trends that are shaping interior style. In partnership with BIG W, they identified their top product picks and shared their styling tips for every room in the family home.
Alongside the BIG W design team, The Block’s Mitch & Mark @mitchandmark, organisation queen Anita Birges @miseenplace_au, TikTok powerhouse and home hacker Chantel Mila @mama_mila_ and interior stylist Brie Turton @briellynturton, shared their viral storage and cleaning hacks, tablescaping inspiration and home styling tips.
Four viral trends to elevate your home:
1. #inexpensiveluxury
As families look to get the most bang for their buck, it is no surprise that savvy shoppers are always on the hunt for products that achieve a luxe-for-less look. To help make trending aesthetics more accessible, BIG W’s latest collection features styles to help families get the most value from their shop when refreshing the home at an affordable price point.
For those looking to bring trending decor into the bedroom, the Openook Basket Weave Throw in Brick Dust ($29) and Mirabella Tara Table Lamp ($29) can refine your space, taking inspiration from the latest styles.
Chantel Mila said: “Achieving luxury in the home doesn’t need to be expensive and with BIG W’s home living range, there is an incredible selection of high-quality products to help you create a refined space without the price tag. Layering your living room with a curation of textured cushions like the Openook Boucle Cushion in French Oak ($14) paired with the Openook Faux Mink Fur Throw in Taupe ($45) and adding candles for ambience are an easy way to create a luxe look without splurging.”
2. #tablescape
Tablescaping became popular in lockdown, with Aussies elevating the experience of eating in when we couldn’t eat out. This trend has continued to thrive and a moment to set the table has become an outlet for creativity and self-expression.
Brie Turton said: “The table is a small and inexpensive space to style within the home, but a good tablescape can completely transform your dining space and mood! You can elevate your table without breaking the bank by simply adding elevated pieces to level up your decor, like the Openook Highball Ribbed Tumbler Grey 4 Pack ($10), Ribbed Slit Dinner Plates in Slit Green ($4 each) and the Openook Jute Placemats ($7 each).”
3. #kidsdecor
This trend is broad and ever-changing, influenced by both parents and kids with uplifting colour, soft textures and playful prints reigning supreme - as underpinned by smart storage hacks.
Mitch and Mark said: “Social media is the place for interior trends and inspiration.
It’s great to see BIG W dropping a collection that makes these trends more accessible to Australian families. When it comes to kids’ spaces, it’s important to pick pieces that spark joy, creativity and imagination - alongside some clever storage solutions to keep things tidy. This can be as subtle or as loud as you wish, like with the addition of the K-D Pinsonic Single Bed Quilt Cover Set in Chill Check ($24), Openook Abstract Tufted Cushion in Pink ($18) and Openook Grand 4 Cube Shelf Storage Unit in White ($79) to store collections of books and plush toys.”
4. #organisewithme
Social media has fueled a surge in interest in everyday life content, in particular content that invites viewers to #organisewithme. This trend has gone on to inspire the living spaces of Aussies, who turn to the hashtag when looking for inspiration on all things organisation.
At BIG W, there are plenty of homewares to help you tap into trending storage solutions. Simple ways to organise your pantry include the Openook 6 Piece Spice Jar Set ($12), Openook Cookie Jar 2.3L ($6) and Brilliant Basics 3 Tier Pantry Shelf in White ($5).
Shopping for homewares at BIG W has never been easier, with many ways to shop including Pick Up, Home Delivery, and Direct to Boot.
