15 July 2024: Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint are helping customers show their support for Australia’s Olympic and Paralympic teams in Paris with the release of a limited edition range of $2 coins.
From Wednesday 17 July when shopping in store, Woolworths customers paying in cash will have the chance to collect four limited edition $2 coins in their change. One design will be released every two weeks into the cash tills across an eight week period.
The following four coins will be available to customers:
- Community: a pillar of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) combined with the AOC logo;
- Allezaus: combining the popular European sports chant "Allez" meaning "Let's Go”, with the team mascot (BK, the kangaroo) breakdancing – a new sport at Paris 2024 – this coin embodies the excitement and energy of the Games;
- Olympism: embracing the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect, this coin features the word "OLYMPISM" and a Parisian Boxing Kangaroo, the official team mascot;
- Paralympics: featuring team mascot (Lizzie, the frilled-neck lizard) playing the Paralympic sport ofGoalball, this coin celebrates the incredible achievements of Australia's Paralympic athletes. It also incorporates the Paralympics Australia Celebration mark, symbolising the coming together of communities and the world in celebration of sporting excellence.

The release of the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic coins follows previous coin collections between
Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint including the Commbank Matildas, VEGEMITE centenary, 2022 Australian Commonwealth Games Team, The Wiggles, 2020 Australian Olympic and Paralympic Teams, Possum Magic, 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, 2016 Australian Olympic and Paralympic Teams and more.
Various limited-edition coin collectors’ albums will be available from the Royal Australian Mint directly or participating Australia Post retailers.
