Tuesday, 1 October 2019: Woolworths Rewards and Qantas Frequent Flyer have revamped their decade long partnership to make the tie-up simpler, faster and more rewarding for millions of members.

From today, the conversion rate from Woolworths Rewards to Qantas Frequent Flyer points will increase by close to 15 percent. It means 2,000 Woolworths Rewards Points will now convert to 1,000 Qantas Points, up from 870 points.

Woolworths Rewards members will also benefit from faster access to their Qantas Points, with conversions to be processed automatically when members hit 2,000 Woolworths Points rather than once every three months.

Customers can earn Woolworths Rewards Points at Woolworths, BIG W, BWS and participating Caltex and Caltex Woolworths co-branded fuel outlets.

WooliesX Managing Director Amanda Bardwell said: “Our members have told us they love our Qantas Frequent Flyer partnership, but want it to be simpler, faster and more rewarding.

“Together with Qantas we’re delighted to deliver on all three counts as we strengthen the partnership.

“We work hard to offer good value to our customers across their weekly shop, with a wide range of great products at affordable prices.

“The refresh means our members can get even more value from their same everyday shopping at Woolworths, and book their next holiday even faster.”

Qantas Loyalty Chief Executive Officer Olivia Wirth said: “It’s important to us that we continually look for ways to add value and improve how members can earn points through the Frequent Flyer program.

“Our partnership with Woolworths is one of the most popular ways for members to earn points, we see them earn literally billions of Qantas Points every year.

“Combining the points you earn from everyday things like grocery shopping, credit cards and your power bill is a great way to keep your points balance ticking over.

“A third of Frequent Flyers who shop at Woolworths have enjoyed a holiday on points in the past 12 months. As we move to make this partnership more rewarding and easier, we look forward to bringing even more Australians closer to their dream trip.”

Woolworths and Qantas are also making it easier for customers to opt-in to points conversion. For the first time, Qantas customers can link their accounts and sign up for Woolworths Rewards on the Qantas website. Woolworths Rewards has also introduced a simplified two-click process for Qantas conversions on its website.

Woolworths Rewards members have earned billions of Qantas Points in the last 12 months - equivalent to more than 10,000 flights from Australia to the USA.

Woolworths Rewards members who do not wish to opt-in to Qantas Points conversion will continue to save $10 on their next eligible shop at Woolworths, BWS, BIG W and participating Caltex and Caltex Woolworths co-branded fuel outlets each time their balance hits 2,000 points. They also have the option to bank their Woolworths Rewards savings for Christmas.

How to convert Woolworths Rewards Points to Qantas Points

To get Qantas Points with Woolworths Rewards, you must be a member of both Qantas Frequent Flyer and Woolworths Rewards, and have chosen to convert your Woolworths Points to Qantas Points.

Every 2,000 Woolworths Points earned will automatically be converted to 1,000 Qantas Points within 24 hours if a member opts-in to Qantas Points conversion. Conversion will take place in multiples of 2,000 Woolworths Points only. Any Woolworths Points less than the full 2,000 Woolworths Points will remain in a member’s account for future use.
